All About the Event
.
We have been running our famous scarecrow festival or gallybaggers as we like to call them, here on the Isle of Wight since 2010. They are usually on a biennial basis.
They always include a range of scarecrows that amaze and amuse and with over a 100 being done this year are a tribute to the community spirit in the Villages.
We aim to put a smile on peoples faces!

This years festival 2019 was held in the last week of May, but you can see many of the creations in the Gallery and look at the events that took place on the Events page.

Any money raised goes to upkeep of the villages 2 properties ie the Village Hall (Aunt Sallys tearoom for the week) and the Reading rooms (The Gallybagger Inn for the week and at many other times!)
We also support village organisations such as the Village School and pre school, St Olave's Church at Gatcombe, the Horticultural society and other village organisations.

The 2019 event will run from Saturday 25th May to Saturday 1st June. More details about this year's festival soon.

We have been running our famous festival since 2010 (When we won The Beautiful South GOLD Award)

The Scarecrows (or "Gallybaggers" as we call them round these parts) include a diverse range of creations that amuse and amaze!

Our festival raises money for local causes such as the upkeep of the village hall, equipment for the allotment group and the Church at Gatcombe.
